After watching the chicks from Dame crank into a set of heavy tunes I couldn’t help but wonder if they’d even finished high school yet.  Very young but with that edgy, not-so-innocent look to them, these girls are only destined to get better with each passing show.  They’re fun to watch now but I’d bet my bottom dollar, if they can stay together and tough it out, they’re gonna be a band who’s gonna kick a whole lotta asses.

Dame, led by Katee Lee (no relation to Geddy) fronts the band with her Joan Jettish voice and a monster Fender Jazz bass that just doesn’t have the right to wear the label “Jazz” in her capable hands.  There is nothing Jazz about this band at all.  Competent guitarist Ali Stead and a thunderous timekeeper by the name of Kayla Faye round out the power trio to serve up an easily digestible platter of heavy/progressive/alternative morsels that’ll have you smackin yer lips and lookin for more.

If you like a little crunch in your life, get Dame’s debut EP “Intervention” into your ears and check em out live.  You’ll be damn glad you did.
