Seeing as I don't know jack shit about Jonas Tomalty, I can only tell you what I know, what I saw and what I heard.  Ya know how you're always standing there at the beginning of a show and everyone's wondering about the opening act?  Well this show was no different.  I'd heard the guy's name on the concert announcements but I didn't bugger off to the internet to get a taste.  I really wish I did.  Jonas was a real pleasant surprise.  To open cold for any band, is a daunting task but to open up and kick some hairy freezing asses?  That's a feat all in itself.  Especially for the crowd that was gathered for Collective Soul.  I couldn't believe how still this crowd was.  Even when CS was jamming Gel, one of the all time great jump up and give er tunes, the crowd stood there rooted to the floor barely moving.  Someone finally got the balls up to try a crowd surf and of course got the boot for it, but at least the fucker took one for the team and let them know we were alive!!  Jonas came out and rocked this crowd though.  After he left the stage I turned to some guy next to me who was going ballistic the whole time and asked if he knew Jonas personally or something and the guy emphatically and genuinely told me "NO man, didn't YOU think he was fuckin awesome???"  I had to agree.  Wholeheartedly.  I'm now very interested in picking up his latest album and at least one of his 4 earlier efforts.  This guy's been around for a while.  Jonas and his smoking motherfuckin kick ass guitarist Corey Diabo have been circling the music scene for a while now.  If you think you don't know who Jonas is, think again.  He's the one who remade Stevie Nick's "Edge of Seventeen"... ya know... "just like a one winged dove...".... yeah.  That guy.  Fuckin good remake to a fuckin good tune if you ask me.  I called it earlier and I'll call it again.  I think this guy is here to stay so you might as well make friends with him now.
