| This show was a lovely little surprise. Motley Crue, Megadeth and Anthrax. I REALLY went there just to see Anthrax cuz I fuckin LOVED them back in the mid 80's. This concert had the most piss poor turn out I'd ever seen. We paid for a 20th row seat and ended up standing 4th row cuz there was NOBODY THERE. Turns out, Motley Crue was losing money on this tour BIG TIME so they had to boot someone off the tour. Low man on the pole? Anthrax. I was so fuckin pissed off for them pulling that shit. Later I heard Dave Mustaine say "if the Crue would have just dropped ONE of their trailers full of SHIT, Anthrax would have been able to stay on the tour. For some reason I was never a real big Megadeth fan, probably cuz my favorite band way back when, Metallica, kicked Dave out for being an egomaniac dickhead and a raging drunk. Or so I've read. That could all be BULLSHIT cuz it's the WINNER of the war who writes the history book isn't it? I also really never cared for his voice all that much BUT he is who he is right? You can't deny that Dave Mustaine was fucking GREAT on guitar and damn good songwriter too. As far as him being such a dick, I don't know if he would have made that comment in Anthrax's defense if he was THAT much of a dick... PLUS, he was fucking some down home Toronto girl for a while there so he couldn't be ALL that bad, right? |
Even though I wasn't a huge fan, I owned all Megadeth's albums at some point up til "Symphony of Destruction" which was definitely the highlight for me. Not long after the tour with Motley Crue, Dave had "an accident" (no details provided) and supposedly fucked his left hand up in a big way. The message on Megadeth's web site said something along the lines of "Dave suffers serious injury, Megadeth is fucked, blah blah blah..." Check out their web site, I'm sure it's all there still. Goodbye Droogies. Major Serious Update Report: Dave is back. Yes, that's right... Dave is fuckin BACK. Looks like Dave's hand healed up, or he got a fuckin bionic one or something cuz Megadeth has reared it's head again. Good. He's got another album and has been touring in support of it since October 2004. I've seen him in a few appearances, on MTV hosting a memorial type show for Dimebag Darrell and on the Metallica movie, "Some Kind of Monster"... I thought Dave was being a little hard on himself for having been kicked out of Metallica. So I wrote him and told him I thought he's the shit, he's the real deal and to stand up to the juggernaut that is Metallica, takes a lot more balls than he gives himself credit for. He wrote back and thanked me for the kind words... hey.... he didn't have to do that did he? Betcha James wouldn't have. |
