For a while there I thought these guys were the shit. The first two albums were GREAT. Everything after that SUCKED. I can't name a single thing they've done since Clumsy that's any good. These guys weren't just good. They were REALLY fuckin good. Even the Yankee chicks I knew at the time were taking copies of OLP down to the States and turning their friends on to Clumsy and Naveed. I've always been a promoter type of guy. If I like some particular music, I go out of my way to try and get EVERYBODY I know into it. I did that with Metallica before anyone knew who they were and I had my tapes pulled out of the deck and thrown across the room at some parties cuz it was "too heavy". |
Funny how the exact same people were coming to me 3 years later telling me about this great "new" band they just heard. Fuckin morons, I had it right under their fuckin noses the whole time. Shut up. Anyway, OLP just became the Raine Maida show and there wasn't a whole lotta show either. The second time I saw OLP was at a little arena in London at U.W.O. I wasn't really into it at all so I took a few shitty shots and left. I doubt if I'll ever go see them again unless someone GIVES me the ticket and then performs felatio on me before, during and after the show. Come to think of it, that probably wouldn't get me into an OLP show anymore either. |
I took my best OLP shots the first time I saw them in '97 at the Summersault gig which was basically Edgefest minus Bush. Summersault featured a few other acts like Finger Eleven, Age of Electric, I Mother Earth and Tea Party. It was a fun show. I got fuckin smashed and met a bunch of the guys from these bands. Some were cool, some were not. It really was my big introduction to the music business. Cutthroat fuckin deal that it is.
