Ever been SO pumped about seeing a band that no matter what the fuck happened they just couldn't possibly live up to your expectations?  Well that's about how this show ended up.  I didn't know what they were gonna do other than play their incredible brand of fuck you heavy tunes.  No really.. there's heavy and fuckin heavy and then there's fuck YOU heavy.  These guys are somewhere close to the fuck YOU heavy.  No they aren't GWAR or the Melvins.  That's definitely fuck YOU heavy.  But these guys are way up there on the scale of being able to implode your head with some really serious bottom end.  Anyway... they played all the faves.  I wish they would have just played all of Aenima.  Cuz that's by far my favorite Tool CD.  Bands like this, that have albums like that, should go on tour  and play the whole fuckin CD just cuz it's that good.  Of course THIS was the Lateralus tour but that CD wasn't anywhere NEAR as good as Aenima ...or Undertow for that matter.  The tunes were great and the scenery was kinda neat but I go to shoot the band.  Only problem is this... where's the fuckin band?  In the dark.  Hiding somewhere.  Afraid.

Seriously.  The singer, Maynard... sheesh, what a handle, what the fuck were his parents thinking?  Maynard is a victim of stage fright.  Can you believe a guy who LIVES on stage being paralyzed with fear over stage fright?  I can't.  I'm not even a stage dwelling type of person but throw me up there and I'll show everyone my ass for lack of anything better do.  Actually, I'd love to hammer on buddy's drums.  I'd lie and say I actually KNOW his name but I don't.  It's not like I'll meet him any time soon, but he is a GREAT drummer.  Gimme a kit like that to play with and I'll have fun making a bunch o' noise anyway.

When the show started I was ten feet from the stage.  When I realized I wasn't gonna see jack shit unless I moved back and got the screens into my viewfinder, I walked straight to the back of the venue and up the stairs to the very top where I sat back and relaxed.  I shot a roll or two but didn't get ANYTHING worth looking at.  Maybe next time.  If there ever IS a next time.
