Well if this wasn't another smokin Bayfest show, I don't know what was... I've always wanted to shoot the boys from ZZ Top and finally got the chance to do it.  Very simple stage, no special effects, just three old bluesmen playing some of the most popular and recognizable music on the planet.  They took their sweet ass time getting to the stage, I was thinking someone needed to wake them up from their after dinner nap.  I never realized how old these fuckers were til I started thinking about it.  In 1983 these guys were old for fuck sakes.  I remember getting the Eliminator album and then finding out this "new band" had been around for at least 10 years before THAT.  Hell, they'd been around since Christ broke bread with his disciples.  These guys are older than dirt.  But you know what?  ZZ Top can teach a lesson to most young bands these days.  The lesson is:  Showmanship.  Even at 102 years old, Billy Gibbons (guitarist), Dusty Hill (Bassist) and Frank Beard (drummer) can out perform most shit that's out there today.  They make sure your hard earned money is well spent. Sure, they're old tired hands are slowing down a bit and fuck up a few notes here and there but who cares?

They WROTE that shit and played it to a T twenty or thirty years ago and we're to expect that they can still go like they used to?  It's like going to see Ozzy.  You forgive the guy for the mess ups cuz he's OLD for fuck sakes.  If my grandfather got up on stage and did ANYTHING, I'd be totally impressed, let alone get up there and KICK ASS like these buzzards.  Love em or hate em, you can't deny the fact that ZZ Top sold a shitload of albums, wrote handfuls of GREAT tunes and at their age, are still some of the most stylin dudes in Rock n Roll.
